My story is about something that I witnessed that seems typical of race relations in Howard county. My grandkids (from Georgia) came to visit for the summer. we visited parks, pools, libraries, and playgrounds in Howard county. They loved playing at the Vivian C. Bailey park so much that they always cried when it was time to leave. I happened to make several observation while sitting on a park bench. 1) “children from all nations are here climbing, running, jumping, playing, and laughing. 2) Seeing all ethnicities of children at play, is not apparent in all communities. I wonder what would Vivian C. Baily say? This experience is unique and unlike any other community.
